Where roads have a good surface, there will almost always be a layer of red dust that turns to clay when wet. This can reduce traction and double your braking distances. During rush hours the roads can become grid locked, at which point drivers will begin to ignore even basic rules of the road, forget about lanes, drive over roundabouts and try to go along the wrong side of carriageways. Note the flattened posts behind the motorbike on the left of the photograph where large vehicles have repeatedly driven over the traffic island to reach the petrol station. The road in the foreground is a two way road, but motorbikes and cars use the entire width. |
