Roads and Road Travel

The existence of a vehicle on a road does not mean that it is fit to be there. Many vehicles are poorly maintained and smoke issuing from the rear of a lorry is a common problem.

The edges of roads may be poorly defined but the effective width of the roadway doesn't stop where the tarmac ends. The bare ground either side of the road is used for driving, parking, setting up shops and displaying signs.

Be particularly wary when you see a speed hump (sleeping policeman) in the road ahead. These can be vicious 1m high ridges on some roads, and even large lorries will swerve off the road to go round them.
